The 17 minute Quarter mile

{ Tuesday, August 5, 2008 }
So about 2 months ago Phil conned me into signing up for the Sherminator Triathlon. I know it sounded scary to me at first too, but it was only a "sprint" triathlon, which means only 500 yard swim, 10 mile bike ride, and 3.1 mile run. I mean really, how hard could that be? Well after the first 17 minutes in the water, making it back to land was amazing, if only it ended there. Phil and I were in the first wave of guys to go, so apparently that set me up well to get passed by about 150 people on the bike portion of the race. But I have been running, so I should be able to pass a bunch of them back in the run, right? WRONG! Well I passed some, but not quite as many as had passed me before. Overall it was fun, but very tiring. Phil ended up with a time around 1 hour 18 minutes, and I came in about 1 hour and 23 minutes. The 5 minute difference was mostly the swim that I did poorly, but Phil did beat me on every part of the race except the 1st transition, which I crushed him in. Here are some pictures of the events. I am sure Kim will post pictures too, but right now I think she is being a slacker!

Phil and I the night before the race trying on our swim caps

We are not sure why, but they gave us nice shirts, but they were just a little short.

This is me finishing the race.

This is the group that crushed the Sherminator. Phil, Jon, Jenny, Stacy, and Anne. We should all get together and NOT do this again!

PARTY!

{ Thursday, July 31, 2008 }
For all of you who don't remember the pictures from last weekend here they are. Also, a big thanks to Phil, Harbert, Curtis, and Matt for a wonderful time of fishing, golfing, and cooking out. But you are all jerks for making me think I lost my wallet.

Soccer and Family

{ Thursday, July 24, 2008 }
So last weekend we went to Indy to play in the anual soccer tourney. Harbert coached and Phil, Curtis, Ross, and Justin's brother and I all played. It was a good time, and this year all we didn't even get to make fun of Curtis for missing a point blank shot like last year, this year he only fell down running full speed while tripping on his shoelace. We finished 2-1 on Sat, 2nd in our group, and 1-1 on Sunday. I had to leave early and only played in 1 game on Sunday, but from what I hear the guys played well and just ran into a very good team.

Erin and I left early to go to the Carr Family Reunion, we had 148 there this year. Here are some pictures.

The Great Barn Sale of '08

{ Sunday, July 13, 2008 }
Well we had a barn sale at my parents this past weekend. We decided it was more of a mini-flee market than an actual barn sale.

After the sale Phil and I went fishing. Here is a picture of the biggest fish caught. I landed a 13 inch non-keeper bass.

After fishing we went out to Rob's for a bonfire. We tried to tie a cow windsock to a mortar shell (firework), but it didn't work out very well.

Phil and I are also training for a triathalon next month and both biked 3 miles and ran 3 miles. There are no pictures of this training session because I was too busy winning!

Picture Day Update for Phil

{ Tuesday, July 8, 2008 }
This is for Phil because I know how much he hates to read.

And we are back

{ Wednesday, June 18, 2008 }
Due to numerous mean e-mails about us not posting (I will keep Kim's name out of it) I am officially back in blog mode. It has been quite an exciting month, and as always I will keep the words to a minimum and show pictures.

Curtis is back in town from Hawaii. He doesn't even have an accent from being over there almost a year. He brought back Adrian (I think I spelled that right) she is a blast, she even made fun of Phil and his socks.

It was my birthday, so my sister decided to get a decked out shirt for herself to help me celebrate.

We went to Indy to see the Harberts. Baby Lily is getting so BIG.

Mini Vacation

{ Monday, May 12, 2008 }
Last Thursday at 9:30 Erin and I set out on a mini vacation. We met up with Phil and Kim in Angola and drove over night to North Carolina. We arrived at about 11:00 Friday morning. Our friend Pete was getting married on Saturday so we went down a bit early to relax.

Thanks to Kim's driving we were stuck in a traffic back up for an hour.

Phil and I got out and found a dead rabbit, we called him Simon.

On Saturday before the wedding we stopped by a rummage sale, here is a picture of the girls with their goodies.

After the sale we went to a park that had putt putt golf, paddle boats, hiking trails, playgrounds, campgrounds, a small zoo, and lots of other stuff.
